Ptarmigan Pass Trail #35.1

Ptarmigan Pass Trail #35.1 is a steep three-mile trail, which connects the South Fork Trail to the end of the Ute Peak Trail. The trail is a difficult hike, especially in the beginning. Once on the pass, access is provided north along the Williams Fork Ridge and excellent views of the area can be seen. Elk are often seen near the trail and throughout the upper Williams Fork Valley.

Facilities: There are no facilities available along Ptarmigan Pass Trail #35.1.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Ptarmigan Pass Trail #35.1.

Best Time To Visit: Ptarmigan Pass Trail #35.1 is open year round, but peak season is June through October.

Fees: A parking fee may be charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Directions: To get to Ptarmigan Pass Trail #35.1 from Winter Park: drive north on US-40 to Granby. Take Highway 40 west from Granby to County Route 3 and head south for about 18 miles. Turn south onto County Route 30 towards the campgrounds. Continue on this road for 5.5 miles through the tunnel and turn right and follow the South Fork road for 4.8 miles to the trailhead.
