Lion Gulch Trail #949 goes into Homestead Meadows where there are eight historical homesteads. The homesteads were built in the late 1800s-early 1900s before most were abandoned. There are interpretive signs at each homestead. The length of the hike increases to 6.5 miles if all the homesteads are visited.
This trail has been rated moderate and has heavy usage. Elevation ranges from 7,200 to 8,520 feet on this 2.8-mile (one way) trail.
