| Facilities: There are no facilities at Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted at Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. Best Time To Visit: Indian Peaks Wilderness Area's best season is fall for the color and natural artistry. Fees: A fee is required for overnight camping at Indian Peaks Wilderness Area between June 1 and September 15. Permits are available from the district ranger or at the Coast-to-Coast Hardware store in Nederland. There is also an entrance fee into the Brainard Lake area of the Wilderness. Accessibility: Unknown Rules: From June 1 through September 15, permits at Indian Peaks Wilderness Area are required for overnight trips. On the eastern portion of the wilderness (east of the Continental Divide) no campfires area allowed. Additionally the area south of Niwot Ridge, including the Arapaho Glacier and the lakes and peaks to the south, are a part of the City of Boulders municipal water supply. The city is exceedingly strict about any trespassers and unless visitors want a ticket, it is recommended they avoid this area. Directions: Indian Peaks Wilderness Area is Located just northwest of Denver, in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, the Wilderness area stems from the southern border of Rocky Mountain National Park along the Continental Divide. In fact, about 2,922 acres of the Wilderness lie within the Rocky Mountain National Park Boundary. |
