Acquisition of Genesee Park, the first Denver mountain park, took place between 1912 and 1937. Genesee is Denver's largest mountain park containing 2,341 acres. Bison may be viewed from the scenic overlook along I-70. Located off Stapleton Drive is the trailhead of popular hiking trails, Beaver Brook and the Braille Trail. The "Braille Trail," with interpretive signs in braille and waist-high guide wire, was designed for blind hikers.
Hiking, picnicking, sand volleyball, horseshoes, and hiking trails are a few of the recreational activities permitted here.
