| Corwina Park is 297.82 acres situated in Bear Creek Canyon. The City and County of Denver acquired the land in 1916.The Denver Mountain Park system is the responsibility of the Parks and Recreation Department. Employees of the Denver Mountain Parks District are responsible for the care of 14,000 acres, or 22 square miles, scattered over an area of 380 square miles. Thirty-one named parks total 8,632 acres. The remaining acreage is comprised of sixteen unnamed wilderness areas, including 20 mountain tops. Mountain park elevations rise from 5,681 feet above sea level 15 miles west of Denver to a height of 13,001 feet at Summit Lake Park 60 miles west of Denver. |
