| Black Bear Trail is located within the Mancos State Park. It is rated as "moderate" and has an elevation of 7,800 feet. This trail sees low usage. This trail connects two USFS trails (Chicken Creek Trail and the Colorado Trail), as well as two other in-park trails, providing a variety of distance and difficulty options.The Mancos State Park encompasses 338 acres surrounding Jackson Gulch Dam and Reservoir. Mancos Lake is the recreation focus of this secluded state park. Sailing, fishing and wakeless boating may be enjoyed on the lake. Picnicking, hiking, camping, volleyball, horseshoes and mountain biking are activities in which visitors to this area may participate.The Mancos State Park lies immediately south of the San Juan National Forest between Durango and Dolores. It is ten miles north of Mesa Verde National Park, just off the San Juan Skyway and surrounded by the majestic San Juan mountain range. Mancos State Park is southwest Colorado's hot spot for excellent fishing and camping.Pleasant climate, year-round trout fishing and a campground in a mature ponderosa pine forest combine to create an outdoor haven. |
