| The Jackson Gulch Reservoir, located within the Mancos State Park, is stocked with rainbow trout and provides excellent year-round fishing opportunities. The Department of Wildlife has stocked 10,000 fish this year. Yellow perch are also plentiful.The Mancos State Park encompasses 338 acres surrounding Jackson Gulch Dam and Reservoir. Mancos Lake is the recreation focus of this secluded state park. Sailing, fishing and wakeless boating may be enjoyed on the lake. Picnicking, hiking, camping, volleyball, horseshoes and mountain biking are activities in which visitors to this area may participate.The Mancos State Park lies immediately south of the San Juan National Forest between Durango and Dolores. It is ten miles north of Mesa Verde National Park, just off the San Juan Skyway and surrounded by the majestic San Juan mountain range.
