Fish Creek State Wildlife Area is located in a rugged country north of the West Dolores River. This State Wildlife Area is best known for providing access to the San Juan National Forest. Fishing and small-game hunting are popular here.

Facilities: Primitive camping is provided at Fish Creek State Wildlife Area.

Reservations: Reservations are needed or accepted to visit Fish Creek State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Fish Creek State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area has limited handicap accessibility.

Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose.

Directions: To get to Fish Creek State Wildlife Area from Cortez: Drive north on CO-184, turn east on CO-145 towards Dolores. From Dolores, travel 12 miles north on State Highway 145 to Forest Service Road 535, then 12 miles north on Forest Service Road 535 to Fish Creek access road. Continue 1.5 miles north to the parking lot.
