Dome Lakes State Wildlife Area

Dome Lakes State Wildlife Area encompasses 239.15 acres which includes two lakes, Upper Dome Lake (35 surface-acres) and Dome Lake (7 surface-acres). Fishing in the upper lake is fair for stocked rainbows and wild brown trout. The lower lake has a good population of wild brook trout. Motor boats are permitted, but fishing is better from small boats, or canoes. Camping is permitted.

Facilities: Restrooms and drinking water are provided at Dome Lakes State Wildlife Area.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to visit Dome Lakes State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Dome Lakes State Wildlife Area is open year-round. Camping is prohibited October 1st through the last day of the waterfowl season.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area has a limited handicap accessibility.

Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose.

Directions: To get to Dome Lakes State Wildlife Area from Gunnison, go 8 miles east on US Highway 50, 18 miles south on State Highway 114, then 6 miles southwest on County Road 20.
