Vegetation in Billy Creek State Wildlife Area consists primarily of sagebrush, oakbrush & pinon-juniper. Some cottonwood habitat exists on the Uncompahgre & Billy Creek riparian zones. A man-made pond exists on the property.
This area is primarily for hunting and observing wildlife.


Facilities: Primitive camping is permitted.

Best Time To Visit: Billy Creek State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose.

Directions: To reach Billy Creek State Wildlife Area from Montrose, travel approximately seven miles south on US 550 to Government Springs Road, and then two miles west to the marked access road.
