| Facilities: Restrooms and a seasonal water system are provided at Big Creek Lakes. Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Big Creek Lakes. Best Time To Visit: Big Creek Lakes is open June through October. Fees: There are no fees to visit Big Creek Lakes. Accessibility: This lake is not handicap accessible. Rules: Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas. Directions: To reach Big Creek Lakes from Steamboat Springs, travel east on US Highway 40 to State Highway 14. Take State Highway 14 northeast to Walden. From Walden, take State Highway 125 north 8.9 miles to Big Creek Lakes sign (in Cowdrey, CO). Turn left at sign (County Road 6) and go 19 miles to Big Creek Lakes/Forest Road 600 signs. Turn left at signs and go 5.7 miles to campground. NOTE: County Route 6 becomes dirt after 5.3 miles. Forest Route 600 is a dirt, wide single-lane road with turnouts. |
