Visitors start the Ute Creek Trail from the parking area, cross over the footbridge to the beginning of the trail. From this point to Bison Pass, the trail ascends a continuous steep grade. The Ute Creek Trail provides a short route to some of the high country vistas. Farther up, the trail intersects the Brookside McCurdy Trail. The Ute Creek Trail is a popular route for climbing Bison Peak and McCurdy Mountain.

This is a very difficult 4-mile hike, with elevations ranging from 9,000 to 12,000 feet.

Facilities: There are no facilities at Ute Creek Trail.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Ute Creek Trail.

Best Time To Visit: The Ute Creek Trail is open spring, summer and fall.

Fees: A parking fee may be charged.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: This trail is located within the Pike and San Isabel National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To reach the Ute Creek Trail from Denver, travel I-25 towards Colorado Springs. Take the US-24 rams towards Pikes Peak. Turn left onto US-24 west to Lake George. Directions from Lake George: Travel northwest on Park County Road 77 (Tarryall Road). The trail lies off of this road three miles east of the Tarryall Reservoir. Plenty of parking is available.
