Transfer Trail

Transfer Trail begins at the end of Forest Road 967. Proceed south, following an old jeep trail through mixed stands of aspen, spruce and fir. Approaching Blue Mountain Creek, the trail begins to turn east, crossing the Flat Tops Wilderness boundary at mile 0.3. Visitors will reach trail 1119 at mile 0.6. The total elevation change is 200 feet.
This 0.6 mile trail is located within the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest. The beginning elevation is 9,285 feet and the ending elevation is 9,285 feet. This trail provides direct access to the Flat Tops Wilderness.

Facilities: Facilities can be found in Yampa before departure.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Transfer Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Transfer Trail is open from June through November.

Fees: There are no fees associated with this trail.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Rules: This trail is located within the Routt National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To reach Transfer Trail from Steamboat Springs, travel US-40 south to CO-131 south. Follow CO-131 south to Yampa. From Yampa, follow County Road 17 north, to County Road 132, 5 miles. Follow 132 west, to Forest Highway 16, 3.4 miles. Follow 16 west to Forest Road 967, 20.1 miles. Follow 967 south to trailhead parking, .25 miles.
