Tepee Creek Trail begins very near to Lynx Pass. It climbs for the first mile and then crosses Forest Road 263. This is the highest point of the trail, at 9400 feet. From this point the trail goes downhill along Tepee Creek for its duration, in a southeasterly direction. Visitors will encounter mainly lodgepole pine. At mile 3.2, the trail crosses an old logging road. This road was used to remove timber from the Tepee-Rock Timber sale which closed in 1981. The road is now closed to avoid wildlife disturbance.
The trail continues on the north side of Tepee Creek. Along the trail, visitors will find good brook trout fishing and beaver ponds. There is a tough crossing of downed logs at Rock Creek just at the east end of the trail. Take care when crossing as spring run-off can complicate this.
This 4.4 mile trail is located within the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest. The beginning elevation is 9,000 feet and the ending elevation is 9,000 feet.
