Sprague Lake Trail homesteaded in this area more than a century ago and created a trout pond by damming a stream. Sprague also undoubtedly appreciated the breathtaking views of the Continental Divide, which are best seen from this half-mile-long trail at the far end of the lake.
This level 0.5 mile trail travels around the 12.9 acre Sprague Lake. It is fully accessible.

Facilities: Restrooms and picnic tables are provided at Sprague Lake Trail.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Sprague Lake Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Sprague Lake Trail is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees charged to walk this trail.

Accessibility: This trail is completely accessible.

Rules: A variety of rules apply when hiking in a National Park. Please contact the local Park Ranger for more specific information.

Directions: To get to Sprague Lake Trail from:

Boulder: Drive north on CO stat Highway 72, turn east on CO State Highway 7. This trail is located in the east side of the National Park. Travel north on Highway 7 until it intersects with Highway 36. Travel west on Highway 36 to the Beaver Meadows Entrance Station. Drive just past this station, and then turn left onto Bear Lake Road. Stay on Bear Lake road; visitors will pass by the Moraine Park Museum, Hollowell Park, and Glacier Basin before reaching Sprague Lake.
Loveland: Drive west on US-34, turn left onto US-36. Travel to the Beaver Meadows Entrance Station. Drive just past this station, and turn right onto Bear Lake Road. Stay on Bear Lake Road; visitors will pass by the Moraine Park Museum, Hollowell Park, and Glacier Basin Before reaching Sprague Lake.
