| Facilities: There are four different campgrounds each providing campsites and other facilities at Rio Grande Reservoir. Restrooms, picnic tables, and fire grills can be found on site. Other facilities can be found in nearby Creede. Best Time To Visit: Rio Grande Reservoir is typically open June through October. Directions: To get to Rio Grande Reservoir from: Pagosa Springs drive northeast on US-160, turn right onto Colorado state Highway 149. Travel to the intersection of Colorado Highway 149 and Forest Road 520 (Rio Grande Reservoir Road), then 13.1 miles west on Road 520. The last 18 miles of the road are gravel and are rough and narrow in places, but the road is suitable for passenger cars, RV's and trailers.Ouray drive north on US-550, turn right onto US-50. At Colorado State Highway 149 turn right. Travel to the intersection of Colorado Highway 149 and Forest Road 520 (Rio Grande Reservoir Road), then 13.1 miles west on Road 520.
