The Prospector Campground is located within the boundaries of the White River National Forest at an elevation of 9,100 feet. This campground offers 107 individual campsites situated in the high mountains near Dillon Reservoir. Fishing and power boating are popular recreation opportunities on this reservoir. Hiking and biking trails are also in the area. Maximum RV/Trailer length is 32 feet.


Facilities: Restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire grills are provided at Prospector Campground.

Best Time To Visit: Prospector Campground is open from May through September.

Fees: An overnight camping fee will apply.

Accessibility: This campground is accessible for disabled persons. Please contact the Forest Service for further information.

Rules: Pets and Animals Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas. Pets (except guide dogs) are not allowed in swimming areas or sanitary facilities. Saddle or pack animals are only allowed where authorized by posted instructions.

This campground is located within the White River National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To get to Prospector Campground from Breckenridge: drive north on Highway 9 to Silverthorne. From Silverthorne, travel 4 miles east on Highway 6. Turn right on Swan Mountain road and go 2 miles to Swan Mountain Recreation Area. A dirt road leads to the campground.
