Platte River Trail #654 provides access to Platte River for fishing. The South Platte River enters a steep, rocky, picturesque canyon, just after the trail returns to the river. The trail provides good opportunities for day hiking, but be aware of the private land.

Facilities: There are no facilities available along Platte River Trail #654. Water is available at Happy Meadows Campground. Backcountry water is available on the north end in the South Platte River.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Platte River Trail #654.

Best Time To Visit: Platte River Trail #654 is open year round.

Fees: A parking fee may be charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Directions: To get to Platte River Trail #654 from:

Denver drive south on I-25, turn right on CO-67. travel to US-24, turn left, travel to Lake George. From Lake George go north on US-24 approximately half a mile to county route 77. Go north on 77 approximately one and a half mile to county route 112. Go east on 112 approximately one mile to Happy Meadows Campground. Platte River Trail is located 1 mile past Happy Meadows Campground before the Sportsmen's Paradise gate. To get to Happy Meadows Campground
The trailhead is well marked and there is plenty of parking space available.
