| Facilities: Restrooms, picnic tables, fire grills, and drinking water are provided at Pinon Flats Campground. Reservations: Individual campsites at Pinon Flats Campground are occupied on a first come, first served basis; there are no reservations for individual sites. Best Time To Visit: Pinon Flats Campground is open year round. Fees: An overnight camping fee will apply. Accessibility: There are two restrooms that are accessible. Rules: Do not feed wildlife. All animals within the park, including birds, are protected by law. Feeding wildlife is dangerous for you and unhealthy for them. Vehicles must be parked on pavement with a limit of two per site. Please contact the campground hosts if you have you have more than two vehicles for alternate parking.Pets are welcome in the campground. Please keep them leashed and under control at all times and clean up after them.Trash should be taken to the dumpster located near the amphitheater. To protect yourself, your property, and the park's bears, do not leave it in your site.Directions: To get to Pinon Flats Campground from Alamosa: Great Sand Dunes National Monument is located 35 miles northeast of Alamosa, Colorado, reached by U.S. 160 and Colorado 150 from the south, or from Colorado 17 and County Six Mile Lane from the west. By car from Denver, Colorado Springs, or Pueblo, the fastest route is south on I-25 to Walsenburg, west on US 160, north on State highway 150. From Albuquerque, drive north on I-25 to Santa Fe, then north on US 285 to Alamosa. The campground is located 1 mile north of the Great Sand Dunes Visitor Center. | |
