Anglers can catch cutthroat trout and grayling from Pearl Lake a 167 acre reservoir. The best fishing of the year tends to be mid to late May during ice off. Fishing at Pearl Lake is restricted to flies and artificial lures, and no baits are permitted. A two-fish bag limit is enforced and each fish must be over 18 inches.
Pearl Lake State Park, nestled in the mountains north of Steamboat Springs, offers peace and quiet in a lush forest setting. Surrounded by towering pines, visitors camp along the lake and up a gentle hill, which is deep in the cozy woods.
Excellent fly and lure fishing is available at the park where native cutthroat trout flash their red throats when pulled from the water. This incredibly peaceful area is lush and green, a true escape from the day-to-day routine.


Facilities: There are 36 individual campsites to choose from at Pearl Lake. Restrooms, picnic areas, and drinking water are all provided.

Best Time To Visit: Pearl Lake is open year round.

Fees: There are a variety of fees that can be occurred when entering this state area, from a daily walking pass all the way to an annual vehicle pass. Please contact this State Recreation Area to find the plan best for you.

Accessibility: Campsites 6 and 35 are accessible.

Rules: Since rules may vary depending on which park you choose to visit, please check with the Park Manager for any other rules that may apply.

Directions: To get to Pearl Lake from Steamboat Springs, go west two miles on U.S. 40 to County Road 129, and then turn right. Go north 23 miles to Pearl Lake Road, turn east and drive the final two miles to the park.

Reservations: Reservations for Pearl Lake may be made for May 23 through September 30, from six months to three days in advance of arrival.
