Old Timers Campground is in a fir and spruce forest on Vellecito Reservoir. There are great views of the lake which has salmon and pike fishing. Basic supplies and boat rentals are available at the marina. There are also horse, hiking, mountain biking, and ATV trails nearby.


Facilities: Drinking water and toilets are provided at Old Timers Campground.

Best Time To Visit: Old Timers Campground is open May through September.

Fees: A camping fee is charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Maximum length of stay is 14 days.

This campground is located within the San Juan National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To get to Old Timers Campground from Durango: take US-550 turn left onto US-160 to Bayfield. Old Timers Campground is located on the east shore of the Vallecito Reservoir. From Bayfield go north on county route 501 for 4 miles to forest route 603. Go northeast on 603 for 2 miles to the campground.
