The Nordenskiold Site No.16 is a 2-mile round trip hike to Ruin No.16. The overlook offers a leisurely stroll on the quietest trail in Mesa Verde. The booklet, available at the trailhead, provides a wealth of information about native plants and their historic uses. The trail is open Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Best Time To Visit: Nordenskiold Site No. 16is open Memorial Day to Labor Day, and Mesa Verde National Park is open year-round.

Fees: A parking fee may be charged.

Accessibility: Steep cliffs, deep canyons and narrow trails can be a danger to all visitors. Persons with heart or respiratory ailments may have breathing problems in the thin air at high altitude. Wheelchairs with wide rim wheels are recommended on trails. Visually impaired visitors will need an assistant to read exhibit labels since none of the exhibit displays have been transcribed into Braille.

Rules: Regulations governing the use of Mesa Verde National Park permit hiking only around developed areas on established trails.

Directions: To reach Nordenskiold Site No. 16 from Cortez, travel east on U.S. Highway 160 to the Mesa Verde National Park entrance.
