Long Gulch Trailhead to North Fork Trailhead

Long Gulch Trailhead to North Fork Trailhead is a section of the Colorado Trail that climbs to the head of the north fork of Lost Creek and then follows it for this section's entire length.
The trail also parallels the Lost Creek Wilderness for much of its length, which is closed to mountain bikes. Bikers can make a loop by using Forest Development Road 134 and Forest Development Road 56. Just be careful of traffic.
Two miles northwest of the North Fork Trailhead, the Colorado Trail intersects the Brookside-McCurdy Trail. A loop can be done by following it to the Craig Park Trail (#608), then the Ben Tyler Trail (#606), and back onto the Colorado Trail at Rock Creek.
This trail has been rated easy to moderate. This 7.3-mile trail is located at 10,200 feet in elevation.

Facilities: There are no facilities available at Long Gulch Trailhead to North Fork Trailhead.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Long Gulch Trailhead to North Fork Trailhead.

Best Time To Visit: Long Gulch Trailhead to North Fork Trailhead is open summer through fall.

Fees: A parking fee may be charged.

Accessibility: This trail is not handicap accessible.

Directions: To reach Long Gulch Trailhead to North Fork Trailhead from Denver, travel southwest on US Highway 285 to Lost Park Road. Northwest access is at Forest Development Road 817, just off the Lost Park Road (#56). Southeastern access is from Forest Development Road 134, approximately 3 miles off the Lost Park Road (#56). The turnoff to Forest Development Road 134 is about 4 miles north the Lost Park Campground at the end of Forest Development Road 56. Forest Development Road 134 is not recommended for low clearance vehicles or cars.

To reach Long Gulch Trailhead to North Fork Trailhead from Colorado Springs, travel west on US Highway 24 to State Highway 67. Take State Highway 67 north to State Highway 126. Travel north on State Highway 126 to US Highway 285. Travel southwest on US Highway 285 to Lost Park Road. Northwest access is at Forest Development Road 817, just off the Lost Park Road (#56). Southeastern access is from Forest Development Road 134, approximately 3 miles off the Lost Park Road (#56). The turnoff to Forest Development Road 134 is about 4 miles north the Lost Park Campground at the end of Forest Development Road 56. Forest Development Road 134 is not recommended for low clearance vehicles or cars.
