Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information. Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible. Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose. Water skiing and sailboards are prohibited.Directions: To reach Lake John State Wildlife Area from Steamboat Springs, travel East on US Highway 40 to State Highway 14. Take State Highway 14 north to Walden. From Walden, travel eight miles west on County Road 12W to County Road 7 and then seven miles north to the access road, and two miles west to the property.
