At 11,400 feet above sea level, and located within the Rio Grande National Forest, Kerr Lake is one of the few boating areas with road access in the Conejos District. This is a scenic lake with excellent fishing.

Facilities: No facilities are provided at Kerr Lake.

Reservations: Kerr Lake does not require or accept reservations.

Best Time To Visit: Kerr Lake is open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

Fees: No fees are charged to use Kerr Lake.

Accessibility: Kerr Lake is not handicapped-accessible.

Rules: The road in is rough and steep in places and should not be attempted without a 4WD. Fishing may be done with flies and lures only. Motors are not allowed on this lake.

Directions: To reach Kerr Lake from Alamosa: Travel west on US Highway 160 to Monte Vista. From Monte Vista, proceed south on Gunbarrel Road, State Highway 15, for 12 miles. Turn west onto the Alamosa River Road, and proceed approximately 29 miles to the junction of Kerr Lake Road #257.
