Joe Moore Reservoir State Wildlife Area

Jerry Creek Reservoirs State Wildlife Area is a quiet, small warm-water reservoir surrounded by pine trees. When this reservoir is full, there are 45 surface-acres of water. Fish species include; rainbow trout, largemouth bass & green sunfish. Sunfish & bass have spawning areas available. The Department of Wildlife has an annual stocking of 8,000 rainbow trout.
This is an irrigation reservoir, and during the summer months, the water level can be very low.

Facilities: Jerry Creek Reservoirs State Wildlife Area provides restrooms on the southeast side, along with several primitive campsites.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Jerry Creek Reservoirs State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Jerry Creek Reservoirs State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose.

Directions: To reach Jerry Creek Reservoirs State Wildlife Area from Cortez, travel east on US Highway 160 to Mancos. From Mancos, travel 5 miles northwest on State Highway 184, then 4 miles north on Forest Service Road 589.
