Haviland Lake State Wildlife Area

Haviland Lake State Wildlife Area covers 65 surface-acres. This State Wildlife Area produces good fishing for catchable-size (6-12 inch) rainbow & occasionally brook trout. Annually, 20,000 rainbows are stocked in the reservoir. This reservoir has experienced some moderate winter-kill in the past years. Average depth of lake is 9.8 feet with maximum depth of 24 feet. There is no fluctuation in water levels.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Haviland Lake State Wildlife Area.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted at Haviland Lake State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Haviland Lake State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area has a limited handicap accessibility.

Directions: To get to Haviland Lake State Wildlife Area from Durango: Lake is located north of Durango. From Durango, travel 18 miles north on US Highway 550, then east on Forest Service Road 671 for 1/2 mile.
