The Heaton Bay Campground is located within the boundaries of the White River Forest. This campground, situated on the Dillon Reservoir, provides 72 individual campsites at an elevation of 9,000 feet. Recreation opportunities on the Dillon Reservoir include fishing, boating, skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and more. Maximum RV/trailer size is 90 feet.


Facilities: Restrooms, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire grills are provided at Heaton Bay Campground.

Best Time To Visit: Heaton Bay Campground is open May through October.

Fees: An overnight camping fee is charged.

Accessibility: This campground is accessible for disabled persons. Please contact Forest Ranger for further information.

Rules: Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas.

Directions: To reach Heaton Bay Campground from Vail: Travel 27 miles east on Interstate 70 to the second Frisco exit (#203). Turn right at the exit, then turn left onto the Dillon Dam Road. Go northeast for 1 mile to the campground located on the right (east) side of the road.

To reach Heaton Bay Campground from Breckenridge: Travel north on State Highway 19 to Frisco. In Frisco turn right onto the Dillon Dam Road. Go northeast for 1 mile to the campground located on the right (east) side of the road.
