Geology Trail is located adjacent to the Quarry Visitor Center. It is 0.75 miles in length and is an easy to moderate walk with several short, steep sections. The trail begins at the quarry and ends within sight of the Lower Visitor Center where visitors in the summer park their vehicles to take the tram to the quarry.

Facilities: There are no facilities available along Geology Trail. Drinking water and restrooms are provided at the visitor center. There are at least four camping areas that are within are close by the Dinosaur National Monument.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to use Geology Trail. Reservations are accepted for the campgrounds.

Best Time To Visit: Geology Trail is open all year, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. The Headquarters Visitor Center is open all year Monday through Friday, and weekends Memorial Day through Labor Day, closed on major holidays.

Fees: An admission fee is charged.

Accessibility: Geology Trail is not accessible.

Vernal, UT: The popular Fossil Bone Quarry area of the park is only a 30 minute drive east from Vernal, Utah. Take Route 40 (Main Street) east out of Vernal until a well marked turn left/north from Jensen, UT onto Route 149. seven miles later visitors reach the park. The trail begins at the quarry and ends within sight of the Lower Visitor Center where visitors in the summer park their vehicles to take the tram to the quarry.
Steamboat Springs: Drive west on US-40 to a well marked turn right from Jensen, UT onto Route 149. Seven miles later visitors reach the park. The trail begins at the quarry and ends within sight of the Lower Visitor Center where visitors in the summer park their vehicles to take the tram to the quarry.
