The Difficult Campground is located within the boundaries of the White River National Forest at an elevation of 8,180 feet. This campground offers 47 individual camping sites within a pine forest. Recreational opportunities include hiking the Difficult Trail or mountain biking Independence Pass Road. Maximum RV/trailer size is 40 feet.

Facilities: Restrooms, drinking water, fire grills, and picnic tables are provided at Difficult Campground.

Reservations: Reservations for Difficult Campground can be made by calling 1-877-444-6777. Roughly half of the sites can be reserved, the other sites are first come, first serve.

Best Time To Visit: Difficult Campground is typically open May through September.

Fees: Overnight camping fees are charged.

Accessibility: Handicap accessible facilities are provided. Please contact the Forest Service for further information.

Rules: Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas.

This campground is located within the White River National Forest; forest regulations apply.

Directions: To get to Difficult Campground from Aspen, travel 5 miles southeast on Highway 82.
