Christina State Wildlife Area

Christina State Wildlife Area provides access to the Mad Creek Trail, which leads into the Routt National Forest and Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area. Trout fishing can be done on this stretch of the Elk River.

Facilities: Overnight camping at Christina State Wildlife Area is prohibited, except from September 1st through December 31st. Any other facilities can be found in Steamboat Springs.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to visit Christina State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Christina State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter this area, but hunting/fishing permits will require a fee.

Accessibility: This area is handicap accessible.

Rules: Camping is prohibited, except during big game season. Fires are also prohibited.

Directions: To get to Christina State Wildlife Area from Streamboat Springs, go seven miles north on County Road 129 (Elk River Road) to the property.
