Chipeta Lakes State Wildlife Area is a small warm-water lake in a park like setting located just south of Montrose. The lake has fishing for bass and panfish.

Facilities: Restrooms and a picnic area are provided at Chipeta Lakes State Wildlife Area.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to visit Chipeta Lakes State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Chipeta Lakes State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area is handicap accessible.

Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose.

Directions: To get to Chipeta Lakes State Wildlife Area from Montrose, go 3 miles south on Highway 550 to Chipeta Drive, then turn right and go north 0.5 miles to the property on the right.
