Well-known for quality water-based recreation, Bonny Lake is a pleasant combination of modern facilities and large expanses of prairie and riparian open space.
Fishing is well-known and excellent on this 1,900 surface-acre reservoir. Walleye, northern pike and a variety of bass are just some of the fish that inhabit the reservoir. With seasonably warm waters, dependable winds and sandy beaches, Bonny Lake State Park is the perfect destination for swimmers, water-skiers and windsurfers.
Anglers flock to the reservoir to catch freshwater drum, white bass, wiper, crappie, bluegill, and channel catfish. Recently tiger muskie has joined the group. This lake is open to all types of water craft.


Facilities: Bonny Lake State Park contains 190 individual campsites, catering to all types of campers. Restrooms, picnic tables and fire grills are provided. A marina is located on the south side of reservoir near Wagon Wheel Campground, and rents fishing boats and pontoons.

Best Time To Visit: Bonny Lake is open year-round.

Fees: There are a variety of fees that can be occurred when entering this state area, from a daily walking pass all the way to an annual vehicle pass.

Rules: Please review personal watercraft laws, including requirement that drivers must be at least 16. Youth who are 14 or 15 may obtain permits by completing a safety course. For details, review the boating information from Colorado State Parks.

Directions: To reach Bonny Lake from Limon, travel east on Interstate 70 to Burlington. Take Interstate 70 east to Burlington, then 23 miles north on US Highway 385. Turn east on County Road 2 (3 1\2 miles to gate entrance) or 3 (1 1\2 miles to gate entrance.)
