Black Powder Pass Trail

Black Powder Pass Trail begins at the section house. Walk northeast from this building along the dirt track. The hike's goal is a saddle between Boreas Mountain (south) and Bald Mountain (north). The route follows a stream drainage to its destination at 12,159 feet.
The track cuts through a meadow with stumps from old timber cuts, and then continues along a forested slope to the treeline. The hike can be extended by climbing another 1,000 feet to the 13,082 foot Boreas Mountain summit or 13,684-foot Baldy.
This is a moderately difficult 1.7-mile trail, with elevations ranging from 11,500 to 12,159 feet.
