Big Creek Lakes Campground is located within the boundaries of the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest. Big Creek Lakes Campground is one of the most popular campgrounds on The Parks Ranger District, and includes a day-use area. Nineteen of the sites are under the reservation system and the remainder are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The units are situated next to Big Creek Lake, a scenic lake of 343 acres near the Mount Zirkel Wilderness. Moose are often seen near the campground. There are boating facilities and the lake is a popular destination area for campers and fishermen. The campground is 9,000 feet in elevation and summer temperatures are fairly cool. Big Creek Lakes are 35 miles and about and hour drive northwest of Walden.
This campground offers 54 individual camping sites within the Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest. Maximum combined vehicle/trailer length is 45 feet.

Facilities: Restrooms and a seasonal water system are provided at Big Creek Lakes Campground.

Reservations: Reservations for Big Creek Lakes Campground are accepted.

Best Time To Visit: Big Creek Lakes Campground is open June through October.

Fees: An overnight camping fee is charged.

Accessibility: This area is not handicap accessible.

Rules: Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas.

Directions: To reach Big Creek Lakes Campground from Steamboat Springs, travel on US Highway 40 to State Highway 14. On State Highway 14 travel to Walden. From Walden, head north on US Highway 125 for 9 miles to Cowdrey. Turn left at Cowdrey onto County Road 6W for 18 miles to Pearl. Take Forest Road 600 for 6 miles to the campground. Follow the signs.
