Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area

Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area is located in Gunnison County at the elevation of 8,000 feet. It contains over 640 acres of grasslands. There is no water in this area. Hiking is popular here. This area is closed to public access December 20th through March 31 each year.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted to visit Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area.

Best Time To Visit: Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area is open year-round.

Fees: There are no fees to enter a State Wildlife Refuge. There are fees to obtain fishing and hunting licenses. Please contact the Denver office for further information.

Accessibility: This area is handicap accessible.

Rules: Users of wildlife areas are reminded to check current hunting, fishing, and land use regulations when planning to use an area for any purpose.

Directions: To get to Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area from Crested Butte: Start out going southeast on CO-135, turn right on Highway 742 towards Gunnison. Almont Triangle State Wildlife Area is 10 miles north on Highway 135 of Gunnison. Continue on Highway 135, 1 mile northwest to the sign and access the road on the right.
