| Facilities: Lake Maloya Trail is located within the Sugarite Canyon State Park. Over 40 campsites, restrooms, group shelters, and showers are provided. Accessibility: The restrooms, showers, group shelter, and picnic tables, inside the Sugarite Canyon State Park are all handicapped accessible. Rules: Know all park rules and regulations, which are posted in the park. Drive only on designated roadways and obey posted speed limits.Camp only in the designated areas.Keep pets on leashes.Do not feed the wildlife.Be aware that vandalizing, defacing, or removing antiquities, minerals, plants or wildlife is absolutely prohibited.Bring and drink ample water, at least one gallon per day per person, and allow for the extreme heat of the desert in the summer.Directions: To get to Lake Maloya Trail from Trinidad drive south on I-25 to Raton. From Raton, take I-25 exit 452 to NM 72. Travel east about 7 miles to the junction of NM 526. Take the left fork that goes uphill. Continue on to the visitor's center and beyond to access the lakes. | |
