Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park
Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park preserves a small farming community established by African-Americans in the San Joaquin Valley. Located north of Bakersfield.

Fort Tejon State Historic Park
Fort Tejon State Historic Park preserves the site where the Army's 1st U.S. Dragoons established a permanent fort in 1854 to protect and control the Native Americans living there. Living History demonstrations are available.

Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park

Tule Elk State Natural Reserve
Tule Elk State Natural Reserve protects a herd of Tule elk, once in danger of extinction. Visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars for better viewing of the animals.
