Camping In National Forests Klamath National Forest With elevations ranging from 450 to 8,900 feet above sea level, Klamath National Forest is one of America's most biologically diverse regions. It is home to excellent wildlife and bird watching. The forest offers over 30 campgrounds. Mendocino National Forest The Mendocino National Forest offers a variety of recreational opportunities - camping, hiking, backpacking, boating, fishing, hunting, nature study, photography, and off-highway vehicle travel. Shasta-Trinity National Forest The huge Shasta-Trinity National Forest offers a wide range of recreational activities. Some of these include hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, camping, boating, fishing, sightseeing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. Castle Crags State Park Castle Crags State Park offers views of huge granite spires towering above the Sacramento River. Swimming and fishing in the Sacramento River or hiking in the back country over 28 miles of trails are popular activities.
