Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground rests high in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains next to Wrights Lake. The campground offers 15 campsites equipped for equestrian style camping.
Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground is located adjacent to a larger, family campground at an elevation of 7,000 feet. At this elevations, the campground sometimes experiences closures due to snowfall.
Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground is also located near Desolation Wilderness and is a popular starting point for horseback riders looking to explore the secluded wilderness area. Permits are required for day and overnight use of Desolation Wilderness.

Facilities: Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground has piped drinking water and vault toilets available on the premises. Fire rings are located in the campground.

Best Time To Visit: Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground is open from mid-June to mid-October. These dates may be affected by snowfall.

Fees: Camping fees are charged.

Accessibility: Campsites and toilets are moderately accessible to people with disabilities.

Rules: Maximum length of stay is 14 days out of every 30 days. Please keep family pets on a leash at all times. Campfire restrictions may be put into affect depending on conditions.

Directions: To reach Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground from Sacramento, travel east on Interstate 50 for about 75 miles to Wrights Lake Road (4.5 miles past the town of Kyburz).

Turn left onto Wrights Lake Road and follow it north for about 10 miles. The entrance to Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground will be on the right-hand side of the road.

Reservations: Some campsites at Wrights Lake Equestrian Campground are available through reservation. The remainder are on a first come, first served basis. Reservations can be made by contacting National Recreation Reservation Services or online.
