Nestled in the Yuma and Gila valleys of Southern Arizona, Yuma's climate blends pleasant desert sunshine with the cool waters of the Colorado River. Yuma's clean air affords residents and visitors alike a year round vista of surrounding rugged mountains.

Set aside a day, actually two days, to tour the Yuma Crossing State Historic Park, the Sanguinetti House Museum, St. Thomas Mission, Yuma's numerous art galleries and the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park. All are complemented by eateries and specialty shopping.
Yuma also has world-class outdoor recreation such as hiking in the desert, dune buggying, mountain biking, and boating on the Colorado River. There is much to do in Yuma, such as opportunities for tours of the Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma Proving Ground and the Colorado River. Scenic drives can take in citrus orchards, peanut harvesting and processing, cattle operations, lettuce and other produce crops, cotton fields and date farms. Visitors can also find river rides, hiking, jeep tours and a National Wildlife Refuge.
Yuma also offers gambling at the Quechan and Cocopah Indian gaming establishments within minutes of downtown Yuma. Lively music and art vendors are plenty at the various festivals that take place in Yuma.
Interested in crossing the border to experience Mexican cuisine, music and shopping? The greater Yuma area provides 2 borders to choose. The first in San Luis, a 25-minute drive south and the second is short 15-minute drive across the California border to a smaller Mexican town, Algodones.
