Local Quartzsite Museum, Tyson's Well Stage Station This museum, built in 1866-67, houses pioneer and mining artifacts, photos, and mineral specimens. Return to Top of Page Science Centers Harquahala Smithsonian Observatory Although deserted now, from 1920-1925 a hardy group of scientists lived and worked atop the highest mountain in southwestern Arizona measuring and recording solar activity.
