Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is the place to discover the intricate beauty and many faces of Arizona's oldest and largest botanical garden. Featured are plants from the world's deserts, towering trees, captivating cacti, sheer mountain cliffs, a streamside forest, panoramic vistas, many natural habitats with varied wildlife, a desert lake, a hidden canyon, specialty gardens and more.
Encompassing 323 acres, the Arboretum is Arizona's oldest and largest botanical garden. It was the first purely botanical institution in the inter-mountain states. The Arboretum's mission is "to instill in people an appreciation of plants, through the fostering of educational, recreational and research opportunities associated with arid-land plants."

Best Time To Visit: Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is open year round, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Christmas Day.

Rules: Keep pets on a leash. No pets allowed in the gift shop. Damaging or removing the natural rocks, vegetation, or public property is prohibited. Littering is unlawful.

Directions: To reach Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park from Apache Junction, travel West on West Apache Trail toward North Apache Trail. Make a U-Turn at North Rennick Drive onto West Apache Trail. West Apache Trail becomes West Old West Highway. Merge onto U.S.Highway 60 East via the ramp- on the left- toward Globe. Turn right onto South Mary Drive. South Mary Drive becomes West Odonnel Drive. Turn right onto South Golf Course Road. South Golf Course Road becomes North Telegraph Canyon Road (Portions unpaved).
