Waterwheel Campground is on the East Verde River, set in pine, aspen, pinyon, and hardwoods. Visitors commonly fish for stocked rainbow on the river. Firewood can be gathered locally. Bears, coyotes, elk, deer, skunks, raccoons, and javelinas frequent the area.


Facilities: No drinking water or services available at Waterwheel Campground. Supplies are available nearby in Payson.

Best Time To Visit: Waterwheel Campground is open May through September.

Fees: No fees are charged.

Accessibility: This campground is not handicap accessible.

Rules: This campground is located within the Tonto National forest; forest regulations apply. Maximum length of stay is 14 days.
