Tin Trough Springs Trail #308 begins at the Williamson Valley Trailhead, north of Prescott. The first part of the trail is open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horses, but bikes are not permitted in the Granite Mountain Wilderness area, which the trail enters after about 1 mile.
Tin Trough Springs Trail #308 is 5.55 mile trail that can be combined with Mint Wash Trail #345 for a loop. Tin Trough Springs Trail #308 crosses two miles of the northern section of the area and draws more horse riders than foot traffic. It offers views of the north face of Granite Mountain as well as stunning views of Williamson Valley and surrounding areas.
After the first mile, the trail reaches the junction of trail #345, Mint Wash Trail. To continue on Tin Trough Springs Trail #308, take the northern trail at the junction. Tin Trough Springs Trail then climbs through the boulder-strewn landscape that is characteristic of the Granite Mountain area. The trail ends at Forest Road 671.
The landscape is primarily high desert vegetation including pinyon pine, juniper, and scrub oak. The views from the trail are largely unobscured by the low-growing vegetation.
This trail is rated easy and receives moderate use. Equestrians and hikers are welcome on Tin Trough Springs Trail #308.
