Red Tanks Trail has portions that are rough and difficult to follow. The section through the upper LaBarge Box is steep and narrow.
This trail is 8.9 miles long and has a difficult rating. Hiking and horseback riding are permitted, but horseback riding is not recommended.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Red Tanks Trail. Gas, food, and lodging can be found in Apache Junction.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted for Red Tanks Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Red Tanks Trail is open year round.

Fees: No fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: Neither motorized or mechanized transport are permitted on this trail. The maximum group size is 15; the maximum amount of saddle or pack animals of any kind is 15 per group.

Directions: To reach Red Tanks Trail Peralta Trailhead from Apache Junction, travel east on U.S. Highway 60 (8.5 miles past Apache Junction) to the Peralta Road 77 turnoff. The trailhead is 8 miles north on this road. Horse-trailers parking are on the left just inside the forest boundary 0.1 miles before reaching the main trailhead. Travel north on Dutchman's Trail to its intersection with Red Tanks Trail.

To reach Red Tanks Trail Woodbury Trailhead from Apache Junction, travel east on U.S. Highway 60 to the Queen Valley Road turn-off. Turn left and follow this paved road 2 miles to where the Hewitt Station Road 357 (gravel) branches off to the right. Follow this road for 3 miles to the JF Road 172 turn-off; turn left and follow this road 9.3 miles to a road turning right (Note: Queen and Hewitt Creeks can wash out these roads; drive with care). The trailhead is a short distance down this road. Take Coffee Flat Trail west to its intersection with Red Tanks Trail.
