Smith Ravine Trail is a 3.0 mile trail and is located within the Prescott National Forest. The trail climbs steadily 700 feet upward toward the southwest for the first 1.5 miles, where it turns west. The Smith Ravine spring at the 1.7-mile point may have water. The trail ends at Forest Road 52A (Spruce Mountain Road) at an elevation of 7000 feet.
Ninety percent of the trail is in Ponderosa pine forest. It offers good views to the north and east of the Lynx Creek drainage area, and Spruce Mountain Lookout to the south.
The trail tread is generally 18-24 inches wide with general slope of over 10% and occasional pitches of 20%. Tread is rocky native soil with scattered obstacles of one foot or more over its length. Cross slope varies from 0% to 10%, inconsistently.
