Derrick Trail travels below the Mogollon Rim and links with Highline Trail. Both Horton Creek and Tonto Creek can be accessed from the trail, and both contain trout. When this trail is used in conjunction with Highline trail and Horton Creek Trail it creates an all-day loop.
This trail is 2.5 miles long, receives heavy use, and has a more difficult rating. Horseback riders, hikers, and mountain bikers are permitted on this trail.

Facilities: Derrick Trail provides restrooms at the nearby Tonto Creek Campground. Gas, food, and lodging can be found in Payson.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted at Derrick Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Derrick Trail Is open spring through fall, depending on weather.

Fees: There is a parking fee.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: Motorized vehicles are not permitted on this trail.

Directions: To reach Derrick Trail from Payson, travel northeast on State Highway 260 to Forest Road 289. Take Forest Road 289 to the Tonto Creek Campground. The trail is located towards the back of the campground.
