Pocket Trail travels through Hell's Gate Wilderness Area. Most of the trail was once an old jeep road, but it can still be hard to locate and follow.
This trail is 7 miles long and has an easy rating. Hiking and horseback riding are acceptable means by which to traverse this trail.

Facilities: There are no facilities provided at Pocket Trail. Gas, food, and lodging can be found in Payson and Young.

Reservations: Reservations are not needed or accepted at Pocket Trail.

Best Time To Visit: Pocket Trail is open spring through fall, depending on weather.

Fees: No fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: Neither motorized or mechanized transport are permitted on this trail. The maximum group size is 15; the maximum amount of saddle or pack animals of any kind is 15 per group.

Directions: To reach Pocket Trail Soldier Camp Trailhead from Payson, travel east on State Highway 260 to State Highway 288. Take State Highway 288 south to Young, then follow Forest Road 129 west of Young 6.5 miles to the junction of Forest Road 134. Turn left and drive down Road 134 12 miles through Soldier Camp to the trailhead. The south end of Pocket Trail 38 starts at this point.

To reach Pocket Trail north terminus from Payson, travel east on State Highway 260 to Forest Road 371. Take Forest Road 371 south to Forest Road 454. Take Forest Road 454 south to Houston Pocket. The trail is located south of this location.
