Lower Soldier Camp Trail is located on the Four Peaks Wilderness Area, and starts out by climbing up a sandy wash. It then continues eastward up a ridge.
This trail is 2 miles long, receives light use, and has a most difficult rating. Hiking and horseback riding are permitted on this trail, but horseback riding is not recommended.


Facilities: Lower Soldier Camp Trail has livestock facilities provided at its trailhead. Gas, food, and lodging can be found in Mesa.

Best Time To Visit: Lower Soldier Camp Trail is open year round, as permitted by the weather.

Fees: No fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Rules: Neither motorized or mechanized transport are permitted on this trail. The maximum group size is 15; the maximum amount of saddle or pack animals of any kind is 15 per group. Horseback riding is not recommended for this trail.

Directions: To reach Lower Soldier Camp Trail from Mesa, travel north on State Highway 87. 11.5 miles north of the Verde River Bridge (and just past the Desert Vista Rest Stop), turn right (east) onto Four Peaks Road 143. Drive 2.5 miles to Forest Road 401. Turn right and drive 4.4 miles to Cottonwood Camp. The trail begins east across Cottonwood Wash.
